Chasing Closure: Is It Really Worth It?

Breakups leave us with a whirlwind of emotions and endless questions. Why did they leave? What went wrong? Did I deserve this? We convince ourselves that if we just get answers, we’ll finally find peace. But does closure really change anything?
The Never-Ending Search for Answers
Think about it—if a snake bites you, would you waste time tracking it down to ask, “Why did you bite me?” Or would you focus on finding the cure? It sounds ridiculous, yet after a breakup, we do the same thing. Instead of healing, we chase after explanations, expecting them to ease the pain or expecting the relationship to rekindle.
Will Knowing “Why” Make a Difference?
Even if they answer your questions, will it undo the breakup? Will it change how they feel or bring back what was lost? Will they stop gaslighting you? Or, will they stop being a “Narcissist?” Most likely, no. And sometimes, the answers we get only create more doubts, overthinking, and heartache.
Finding Peace Without Closure
The truth is, closure isn’t something someone else gives you—it’s something you give yourself. Healing comes from acceptance, not explanations. Instead of waiting for a sense of closure from someone else and getting possibly manipulated by yet another excuse or justification, focus on moving forward. Invest in your growth, your happiness, and the life ahead of you.
Because real closure isn’t about getting answers—it’s about realizing you don’t need them.
