Schizophrenia

A. Two or more of the following, each present for a significant portion of time during a 1-month period.
1. Delusions
2. Hallucinations
3. Disorganized speech
4. Grossly disorganized or catatonic behavior
5. Decreased emotional expression (Negative Symptoms)
B. Failure to achieve expected level of interpersonal, academic or occupational functioning for a significant portion of time since the onset of symptoms as compared to before the onset.
C. Continuous signs of the disturbance persist for at least 6 months
D. All other psychiatric illnesses have been ruled out
E. Symptoms should not be because of any substance or any other medical conditions.
F. Autism spectrum disorder or any communication disorders of childhood should be ruled out, and if present schizophrenia should be diagnosed accordingly.
